Step back in time to 1755 and interact with this group of historians as they re-create living on the Kennebec Frontier during the French and Indian War. Wander through their encampment to learn and observe local history taking place. For more information on Samuel Goodwin's Company of Fort Shirley/Pownalborough Courthouse, visit www.goodwinwhite.com. Call ahead to reserve your spot for one of the passenger ferry trips to the island. Special Ferry Schedule for Saturday includes trips at 9am, 10am, 11am, 3pm, and 5pm.

Larry Barnes is a Maine Master Falconer and has a wealth of knowledge about Maine raptors. Come see Larry's live peregrine “on fist” and hear his presentation about Peregrine Falcons and American Kestrels. Larry will discuss life history, fun facts and the Kestrel Partnership - http://kestrel.peregrinefund.org/. Arrive before 430pm for the special ferry time or early and spend the day exploring. Return Ferry will be at 7pm. Space is limited so call ahead to make a reservation.

Bob Gobeil an accomplished Maine Butterfly Survey Participant will be surveying Swan Island. Join him for a discussion on Maine Butterflies and the MBS - http://mbs.umf.maine.edu/. After his presentation spend time in the field identifying butterflies with Bob. Arrive at the Mainland ferry landing before 10am. Return time will be around 1pm. Reservations are a must! “Art in the Park” Artist Reception

GARDINER, Maine – The “Art in the Park” program, entering its fourth year, will feature a woven twig sculpture by artist Susan Perrine. The sculpture will be unveiled in Johnson Park on Water Street, May 3rd at 5:00pm, as part of the Gardiner Artwalk, and will be displayed through October. The public is invited to a reception beginning at 4:30pm at Circling the Square Fine Art Press before the unveiling at 5pm that will kick off the Artwalk which begins at 5:30pm.

Los Angeles-based solo artist, songwriter and guitarist Shane Alexander will make a much-anticipated return to Central Maine at a special concert at Johnson Hall Performing Arts Center in Gardiner on Saturday, April 27, 2013 at 7:30 p.m.
Alexander’s songs range from dark and stirring to subtle and romantic, and are centered around evocative vocals and complex, soulful guitar playing. His smooth vocal style has drawn comparisons to singers Jeff Buckley, Jackson Brown and Art Garfunkel.

In April Monkitree, 263 Water Street in Gardiner will present an exhibition featuring the work of Ken Gross entitled Lost Maps of Norumbega. Ken Gross, cartographer and artist, moved to Maine in 2010. It was a foreign land to him and ripe for exploration. Like early explorers searching to fill in the gaps of geographical knowledge of the region then called Norumbega, Ken began exploring his new home. As an artist working in block print, ink illustration and watercolor, Ken has created a collection of the many small wonders he has found exploring the state of Maine.
