On Saturday, September 21 admission to the Boothbay Railway Village will be free for all children 16 years old and under. In addition to the offer of free admission, the museum will also roll out the red carpet for kids of all ages – even the young at heart – with free rides in a Ford Model T, a 1936 Dodge Fire Truck (originally in service in Augusta, Maine) and our very own tractor-powered “barrel train.” The Village will be open from 9:30 am – 5 pm on Children’s Day with hourly train departures between 10 am – 4 pm.

Belfast-In celebration of the arts and the art of farming, the Belfast Creative Coalition has partnered with the Maine Farmland Trust to create “Cultivate: Belfast Area Farm and Arts Trail”.
‘Cultivate’ identifies artists’ studios, galleries, cultural organizations and farms in the Belfast area that are open year round as family-friendly day trip destinations. It also highlights the growing hiking and bike trail system that runs throughout Waldo County.

The Good Kettle located at 247 Route 1 in Stockton Springs will host a benefit Wine Tasting for the Waldo County Humane Society on Thursday September 19, 2013 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.
Also featured will be guest artist Erwin Flewelling of Northport. Flewelling has carved over 500 birds of various species. His work has been entered in many competitions up and down the east coast. He finds inspiration outside the windows of his home in Northport as he observes the abundant species of birds that visit his feeders.

Cecilia Chamber Choir will hold auditions for all voice parts beginning Sept. 6 and continuing through the third week of September. The Choir sings a variety of challenging repertoire from the medieval period to new compositions. Rehearsals are in Newcastle on Wednesday nights, with periodic performances in Newcastle and Brunswick, and occasionally other Maine locations. The Choir is directed by Linda Blanchard and accompanied by Sean Fleming, both of Damariscotta.

Maine Wienerfest celebrates its 10th year and all things Dachshund in Belfast on Sunday, September 8th in Steamboat Landing Park (at Front Street and Commercial Streets). Belfast’s quirkiest event of the year opens its gates at 11am, and will charge $2 per person, a fundraiser for repair and maintenance at The Belfast Dog Park. Children under 10 years old and dogs are free!
