The Harold Alfond College Challenge is the lasting gift of Harold Alfond who wanted every baby born in Maine to have a great start on saving for education after high school. Every Maine baby under one year of age who attends this Casting Call will receive a free professional photograph, and the opportunity to be in future advertising. You can complete the paperwork to receive the five hundred dollar Alfond Grant while at the event. Staff will be on hand to help – remember to bring social security or taxpayer I.D.s for you, your baby and spouse if applicable.

Steingraber will share her insights about maintaining hope while working on social change, balancing working and parenting, and organizing collectively for our common goals of healthy children and a healthy planet.

Peopleplace Cooperative Preschool is inviting both serious shoppers and families looking for some weekend fun to come out to its first ever Flea Market & Family Festival. Early birds will be able to shop the sale starting at 7:30 a.m. for $5. A spring fund-raiser for the school, the event will be held on the school grounds and will feature a huge multi-family flea market with everything from baby and children’s gear to clothing, furniture, and household items. In addition, there will be live music, a 50/50 raffle, face painting, and food for everyone to enjoy.
