Maine's inaugural FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) Robotics Competition Regional Event will be held at the The Androscoggin Bank Colisée in Lewiston April 5-6. The Pine Tree Regional Competition will host 38 high school robotics teams from around the world, attract over 2,000 spectators, and turn the ice arena into a competition field to play the Ultimate Ascent game that was released in January 2013.

Bands on the Run is a fitness event that engages runners from all over the world Bands on the Run is a fitness event that engages runners from all over the world with three events: Half Marathon, 5K, and Kids' Fitness Course. The inaugural event in 2012 brought in almost 1,000 participants traveling from Scotland to Hawaii. It was a fun-filled day with more than nine bands, dancing and DJ's spanning 13.1 miles around the historical neighborhoods in the Lewiston and Auburn area. Museum L-A anticipates double the participation over last year!

A non-competitive one hundred yard swim, three mile bike ride, and one mile run for ages eight to fourteen. Everyone is a winner! Start and finish at Angevine Park, 456 North Road.

A sprint triathlon with a 750 meter swim at Songo Pond, 24K bike race on scenic country roads, and a 5.8 K cross-country run. Teams or individuals. Presented by Oxford Networks. Pre-registration reguired.

The fifth annual 5K Run and Two Mile Walk for the Homeless and the Hungry will take place at Mother's Beach in Kennebunk. Registration begins at 8 a.m. Proceeds benefit the York County Shelter Programs. Runners can register online at active.com or print off a form from the Shelter's website: www.yorkcountyshelterprograms.org. Free T-shirts to the first two hundred registered participants.
