Poll: Majority of Mainers Don't Like Front-Runner
New survey results from Public Policy Polling released last night are very close to the numbers released by Rasmussen earlier in the day. PPP has the race at 40% for lepage, 28% for Cutler, and 24% for Mitchell in a survey of 1,812 likely voters.
I had a chance to speak briefly with PPP CEO Dean Debnam during a show on WMPG radio last night. He pointed out that the most interesting part of this poll may be the fact that the majority of Maine voters have an unfavorable opinion of LePage and yet he is cruising to a win.
It's hard to argue with the conclusions on PPP's blog: "LePage's support remains pretty solid so Mitchell's supporters would have to flock toward Cutler or vice versa for him not to win and that seems unlikely unless one of the candidates drops out of the race and endorses the other between now and Tuesday. That seems unlikely to happen so it appears Paul LePage will be the next Governor of Maine."
